Lokke Moerel
Prof. Dr. Lokke Moerel is among the world’s best-known experts on new technologies and the governance of digital transformation and its impact on companies, workforce, and society at large. She is one of the pioneers of Responsible AI and is regularly called upon by regulators and global tech companies alike, how to best regulate and implement digital technologies and business models based on privacy/ethics/security-by-design. Lokke is Senior of Counsel with the global technology law firm Morrison & Foerster and professor of Global ICT Law at Tilburg University, where - as early as 2014 – she became co-academic director of the first multi-disciplinary professional learning program AI & Law (teaching Algorithmic Accountability). Lokke is member of the Dutch Cyber Security Council (the advisory body of the Dutch cabinet on cybersecurity), cyber expert of the EU Horizon program, member of the Monitoring Committee Dutch Corporate Governance Code, Chair of the Netherlands Atlantic Association and experienced non-executive board member.
Yann Padova
Yann Padova is a partner in the Brussels office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he is a member of the firm’s privacy and cybersecurity practice. He has extensive experience dealing with regulatory issues and with issues related to internet law, data protection, internet surveillance, cloud computing, international data transfers and cybercrime. He has also assisted numerous businesses with complex projects involving new technologies (ethics of algorithm, data and AI governance, biometrics, profiling, e-discovery procedures, etc.). Yann advises on enforcement and sanction proceeding by regulators. He also works with large companies on problems linked to cybercrime, internal investigation and security breach notification matters.
Emma Martins
Emma has worked in data protection for over 25 years. Starting her career as a data protection officer in the public sector, she moved to work in the regulatory office for Jersey, Channel Islands, in 2002. Since then, she has been Commissioner for Jersey and, since 2018, for the Bailiwick of Guernsey where she worked with a team responsible for implementation, oversight, and adequacy assessment for the new GDPRstandard legal Mamework for the Islands. In January 2024, Emma was appointed as Chief Commissioner for the Data and Marketing Commission. She also has a small portfolio of work acting in an advisory role and is a charity trustee. Throughout her career, Emma has been committed to driving high standards of ethical and legal data handling and encouraging more inclusive and accessible conversations around the role of data in our lives. She is a strong advocate of cultural engagement and has spearheaded a number of community-wide initiatives to support social and economic benefits that come with effective data protection. In March 2024, Emma was chosen to lead the Independent Review into the use of mobile messaging apps in Scottish Government.
Julia Bonder-Le Berre
Julia Bonder-Le Berre has over 15 years experience in advising international organizations on data protection and privacy compliance programs. Currently, Julia is the Head of Global Privacy at Iron Mountain. Before that, Julia was Global Privacy Counsel at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Senior Privacy Counsel at MasterCard and Senior Associate at Baker&McKenzie law firm. Julia served as a member of the IAPP European Advisory Board and shae currently serves as a member of the PICCASO Advisory Board.
Kate Colleary
Kate Colleary is Founder and Director of Pembroke Privacy, a leading data protection consultancy based in Ireland and the UK. Kate is honoured to represent the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as its Country Leader in Ireland and has recently been awarded the prestigious Westin Emeritus Fellow title, which recognises world leaders in data protection and privacy. She has been awarded ‘Best in Data Protection’ by the Global 100 which recognises the world’s leading firms and individuals. She has also recently been awarded the “Fellow of Information Privacy” (FIP) qualification by the IAPP which is reserved for seasoned professionals in the privacy world. Kate is a qualified Solicitor and a Certified Information Privacy Professional and has extensive experience assisting and advising businesses to navigate the complexities of data protection, privacy and AI laws.
Janine McKelvey
Janine leads a multidisciplinary team of data lawyers, compliance, and assurance professionals #gettingdatadone for BT Group in the UK and internationally across 180 jurisdictions. Her team are responsible for advisory and assurance obligations relating to existing and emerging data laws, including AI, data ethics, data governance, privacy and security. Prior to joining BT, Janine was an SVP of Legal and Business Affairs at Warner Bros. for many years and in private practice with Pinsent Masons (UK) and Bowmans (RSA). Janine is a dual qualified English and South African lawyer and an advocate for responsible technology.
Rocco Panetta
Rocco Panetta, Attorney at Law admitted to the Italian Highest Courts, founding and chairman of Panetta Consulting Group, is an internationally renowned technology, data, AI and environmental lawyer, as well as a certified privacy professional. IAPP Country Leader for Italy and until 2022 board member of IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) and former ethics expert of ERCEA - European Research Council Executive Agency. Counsel of the Italian Government (Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri) on the telecom Ultra Broadband strategy 2014-2016, Rocco has previously been a top-level officer at the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante (2001-2008) heading one of its legal departments. His tasks and duties included, among others, supervising and dealing with marketing, public licensed operators and international data transfers. While at the Authority he has been Italy’s representative at the Commission’s Article 29 Working Party, and worked on BCRs, SCCs, SH, APIS/PNR, IMI. Rocco also served both as Secretary General and Commissioner of the Italian Commission on Environmental Impact Assessment (Commissione VIA) from 2007 to 2012.
Anna Buchta
Anna Buchta is Head of Unit “Policy & Consultation” at the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), coordinating the work of the EDPS on providing advice to the EU legislators on legislative and policy proposals relevant to data protection. She has extensive experience in data protection and privacy regulations and litigation before the Court of Justice, notably in several cases concerning data retention, national security and PNR. She was one of the institutional rapporteurs on EU data protection for the FIDE2021 Congress (reports available here: https://fide2020.eu/fide-2020/topics/ ). She participates in working groups of the High-Level Group on Access to Data for Effective Law Enforcement co-chaired by the Commission and the Presidency of the Council. Previously, Anna worked at the European Commission, among others on data privacy in electronic communications. Before that, she was a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and ICT (ICRI, currently CITIP) at KU Leuven (Belgium) and worked as a lawyer in private practice. Anna has a master's degree in Law from the University of Warsaw (Poland) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from KU Leuven.
